project in the form of a collective embroidery. Over the course of several months, participants gathered in different settings to embroider a fragment of a Bruckner score. Meeting by meeting – note by note – stitch by stitch, the embroideries grew as the sum of each individual’s handwriting and personality. The two embroidered scores are based on original sketches of Bruckner’s unfinished 9th Symphony. Visible within the score are not only Bruckner’s handwriting, but also his hesitations, corrections, marginal notes, and the traces of the paper’s ageing. All of these elements found their way into the embroideries. Nearly 200 years later, the participants took up the thread, embroidered the notes and blended their own handwriting with that of the composer. The result is a living, polyphonic score. Finally, cellist Annekatrin Flick performed the embroidered scores. As someone told to me during a shared walk: “What is beautiful about Naarn are the encounters.” A group of people — young and old; directly affected or not — came together as a working group. They were united by the desire to create a place for these children: a place where they could be spoken about openly and remembered collectively. The memorial is landscaped with grass, dotted with flowers, bushes, and strawberries to pick. It is conceived as a welcoming and comforting place where also children enjoy — or would enjoy — spending time. The heart of the memorial is a mosaic created collectively. Children, adults, neighbors, friends and many others were invited to draw a bird on paper — birds flying, gliding, playing, pausing. The mosaic was created based on this collection of drawings. During ten days, we worked together on the mosaic, - stone after stone - with everyone invited to participate. Three weeks long I let myself be guided by chance, curiosity and encouters, collecting impressions and observations that I note down directly onto fabric through embroidery. The gesture is comparable to making entries in a travel diary, noting observations through sketches, but here with the tool of embroidery. Like a magnet that accumulates what it finds in its path, the Bordados compartidos accumulate inscriptions as the days go by. Along the way, I seek contact with people and engage them in long conversation. I ask them how they see the things I see. I invite them, as protagonists, to inscribe their feelings about the situation of the country and everyday life onto the same fabrics - whether by embroidering, drawing, writing, or collaging. Their contributions may be delicate or raw, quick or patient, critical or loyal. They touch, overlap, or contradict the embroideries. Unpredictable collages emerge, shaped by several hands, gazes and perspectives. Was willst du unbedingt?Was brauchen Jugendliche? Was ist der Unterschied zwischen Kindern und Erwachsenen? Die Künstlerin Cécile Belmont hat Kinder und Jugendliche aus der Spandauer Neustadt gefragt und sie gebeten ihre Wünsche, Emotionen, Meinungen mit der Hand auf Papier zu schreiben. Aufgroßen Papieren mit Pinseln, mit leeren Sprechblasen, mit Kohlstiften und noch mehr. So entstand eine breite Sammlung von Wörtern und Sätzen, die jeweils mit eigenen Handschriften geschrieben sind. Wer hatte auf der kleinen Sprechblase geschrieben? Keinerweiß es mehr... Jetzt erstreckt sich das Wort groß aus Metall am Zaun draußen. Als ob eine freie und mutige Hand auf den Zaungeschrieben hätte – wie auf einem Blatt Papier. Dabei trafen sich Mitwirkende in kleinen Gruppen, um jeweils ein Fragment eines gesamten Motivs zu sticken. Treffen nach Treffen wuchs das figurative Fastentuch. Es ging nicht darum „richtig“ zu sticken sondern darum, wie es jede:r auf ihre/seine eigene Weise tut: experimentell oder experimentiert, bestrebt, grob, … Das Fastentuch entsteht durch die Summe jeder einzigartigen Handschrift und Persönlichkeit. Das gestickte Bild basiert auf eine Darstellung des „Christus in der Rast“ (Hans Leinberger, um 1525,&nbsp;Bode Museum Berlin). Christus – nach der Geißelung und unmittelbar vor der Kreuzigung – sitzt einen Arm auf dem Oberschenkel gestützt und macht dadurch eine Gebärde des Ermattens. Im Hintergrund ist die Stadt Linz als Kulisse zu erkennen. Die Geste der Stickerei ist repetitiv und meditativ. Während die Hände beschäftigt waren könnten sich die Gedanken befreien. Die Mitwirkende tauschten Empfindungen und Meinungen aus. Genauso wie das Motiv von allen Mitwirkenden weitergestickt wurde, spannen sich die Gedanke weiter. Das Projekt basiert auf Empfindungen der Mitwirkenden zu Orten in Bitterfeld-Wolfen: die Goitzsche, die Landschaft rund um den Chemiepark, die Altstadt … Teilnehmer:innen (be)schreiben Beobachtungen, Erinnerungen, Wünsche, Beschwerden und bilden so eine Sammlung von persönlichen Eindrücken und Meinungen. Einige davon werden mit Handsiebdrucktechnik auf Stoffbahnen gedruckt. Ziel ist es, an der Fassade des Kulturpalastes kollektiv einen Satz wachsen zu lassen – eine Ode an und über Bitterfeld-Wolfen. Ein nie fertiger Satz, der ein vielstimmiges Bild von Bitterfeld-Wolfen klingen lässt.
