Letter am Steinplatz
Letter at Steinplatz are interventions with words on site. The focus of the project is on the people - passersby, inhabitants - who discover, experience and appreciate the Berlin Charlottenburg public square. They are the authors, the actors and the audience of the project. Their anecdotes, impressions, memories and wishes create a multifaceted picture of the square.
I make people's words visible. With inscribed garments, printed fabric panels, paper letters and other writing media the words open up a dialogue with the spatial, architectural and social dimensions of the square. The temporary interventions are documented in photos and displayed on posters in the neighbourhood.
For two months the Steinplatz becomes a meeting and making place and serves as a stage for lively experimentation with letters. Characteristic aspects of the place – history, social function, urbanity – are literally staged over the course of five acts.
